Car boot reselling tips
- Arrive early — serious buyers arrive as sellers unpack. Popular items go in the first hour.
- Bring cash in small notes and coins — it makes haggling easier.
- Haggle politely — offering a little below the asking price, or a price for several items together, is normal. Use the "max buy price" figure as your limit.
- Test electricals where you can, and check games and DVDs have the right discs in them.
- Look beyond clothing — car boots are great for games, consoles, LEGO, vintage kitchenware, tools, cameras and collectibles, which usually sell best on eBay.
Factor in your costs
Entry fees, petrol and parking are real costs. If you spend £5 getting to a car boot and buy five items, add £1 to each item's "Other costs".
