What we collect

Photos and details you submit to the AI scanner

When you use the scanner, your photo, the price you enter and any notes are sent to our AI provider, Google (Gemini API), to identify the item and estimate its value. Resale Checker does not store your photos or results. Google processes this data under the Gemini API terms; because we operate from the UK, Google's paid-service data terms apply, under which it doesn't use submitted content to improve its products, though it may keep it for a limited period to detect abuse. Please don't upload photos that show people's faces or personal information.

Usage limits and security

To prevent abuse of the free scanner, we temporarily keep a count of scans per IP address for up to 48 hours. We may use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that requests come from a real person. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

Calculator

The calculators run in your browser. The numbers you type aren't sent to us. We remember your UK/US preference in your browser's local storage.

Analytics

We may use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (such as Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count page views. This doesn't identify you personally.

Advertising and cookies

Resale Checker is funded by advertising from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, measure performance and — where you consent — personalise ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

• Visitors in the UK, EEA and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message before personalised advertising cookies are used. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy/cookie settings link shown by the consent message.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Legal basis (UK GDPR)

We process scanner submissions to provide the service you ask for (performance of a contract / legitimate interests), usage counts to prevent abuse (legitimate interests), and advertising cookies with your consent.

Your rights

You have rights to access, correct and delete your personal data, and to object to processing. Because we don't store scanner photos or create accounts, we usually hold no personal data about you. To make a request, email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

Resale Checker is not directed at children under 13.
