Fees can be the difference between a good resale and a waste of time. Here’s what sellers pay on the main marketplaces, as of October 2026. Fees change, so double-check each marketplace’s help pages before relying on them.

Worked example: a £40 jacket (UK)

Assuming the buyer pays £4 postage where postage runs through you:

For UK private sellers, Vinted and eBay are both fee-free for most sales — so choose based on where your item sells fastest and for the best price.

Worked example: a $40 jacket (US)

Assuming no shipping charged on eBay and Depop:

Which should you use?

  • Everyday branded clothing (UK): Vinted — no seller fee, huge audience.
  • Electronics, games, collectibles, tools: eBay — the biggest audience for non-clothing.
  • Vintage, streetwear, Y2K: Depop — younger, fashion-led buyers.
  • Furniture and heavy items: Facebook Marketplace for local collection.

Many resellers cross-list on several platforms and remove the listing when it sells.
